In 1983, after the success of La Calle Doce, Oscar and Laura Sanchez wanted to open another restaurant but they didn’t want to duplicate their previous success nor did they want to open just another Tex-Mex restaurant. Oscar wanted something that wasn’t found in Dallas, something that reminded him of home. Since both Oscar and Laura are from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in Northern Mexico, they decided to open a restaurant that specialized in Comida Norteño (northern food) and Tex-Mex featuring dishes such as cabrito, mollejas, and asado de puerco. Today El Ranchito is known for it’s authentic Mexican food, freshly made tortillas and festive atmosphere where mariachis play daily. These elements – the food, the music and the friendly staff – have helped El Ranchito achieve it’s ultimate goal of creating an atmosphere where the customer feels as if they are back home in Monterrey.

Our wine list is curated by Sommelier/Owner Dilek Caner, who is currently the only Master of Wine in Texas. For the last twenty years, Dilek has trained many sommeliers and wine directors in New York City and Dallas. We are open from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Saturdays. During these hours, we offer a rotating selection of 16 by-the-glass options available in 1 oz, 3 oz, or 5 oz pours and serve a bar menu. We also offer a seasonal six-course dinner with optional wine pairings on Saturdays at 6:30 pm. Always the best food in town. The beef cheeks were amazing. The beet and burrata salad was fantastic. Will keep coming back.

Wait was extended due to not enough waiters and system was down so our online reservation was not received Food came quickly and was excellent Sinai was an excellent waitress
