Opting for the 5-course tasting menu during our visit on Wednesday evening, we were treated to a journey of flavours that were as refined as they were inventive. Each dish was a testament to the creative genius of Chef Aktar Islam and his team, blending traditional Indian influences with modern techniques in ways that delighted the senses. From the very first bite, it was clear that each plate had been crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The balance of flavours, the textures, and the presentation were flawless—elevating every course into a work of art. It was impossible to pick a favourite dish as every course brought something unique to the table, showcasing a remarkable depth of culinary skill. The service was equally impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, their knowledge of the dishes and wine pairings enhancing the entire experience. Every interaction felt warm and genuine, creating an atmosphere of relaxed elegance that perfectly complemented the meal. The highlight of the evening, however, was our post-dinner conversation with Chef Aktar Islam. On a very cold but sunny November day we treated ourselves to lunch at Buckland Manor hotel. From time gone by , escaping from the mad world the village and hotel was wonderful and greeted us with charm and friendship seldom experienced. All quite stunning. The team were perfect, greeting us with a smile and informal welcome, not in your face or pompous. The service couldn’t be more in keeping with the spirit of the day, possibly because of the confidence they had in the kitchen. We left feeling spoiled and very happy with ourselves that we experienced a charm and had the best day , simply wonderful.
