Insalata's Restaurant is moving into it's 28th year of the community minded restaurants in San Anselmo. Insalata's receives Bib Gourmand from Michelin for it's 15th year in a row. Our goal at Insalata's has always been to bring luscious Mediterranean food, gracious service and a warm atmosphere to our diners. For over 28 years we have shared this experience of intimate dining and joyful celebrations in a variety of ways. First and foremost as a fine dining restaurant with our beautiful private Siena room in which to sit and relax and enjoy a meal. We also offer take out dining for those days when time is of the essence, or catered affairs where we bring great food and staff into your home or venue. Marinitas features a menu inspired by dishes found throughout Mexico and Latin America using local and seasonal products. We are centrally located off Hwy. 101 in San Rafael, across for the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center. La Toscana is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant and bar located in Marin County. It was established in 1985 by Paolo Mori, his wife, Marilyn, and Michele Quilici. The owners all grew up in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1950s. They wanted to create an atmosphere that reminded them of home – a place where locals would gather to eat, meet friends and family and celebrate with food and wine as every Italian family does. Chef and co— owner Giovanni Racanello joined La Toscana in 1986. Paolo and Marilyn’s daughter, Laura Mori Riella, and youngest son, Michael Mori, joined the La Toscana team in 1992 and 2002, respectively. Paolo loved to make people feel welcome and, just like all the Moris, enjoyed his food and wine and loved to see others do the same. This is the proud tradition that La Toscana carries on.

Our waiter Pavo did a superb job of taking our orders & providing three separate bills for the 6 of us (3couples). Food was served hot & delicious.

We had five hungry people at our table ages 73 to 24. Everyone found something delicious to eat from the sausage pizza, mushroom fritatta, chicken salad, and seared salmon with the broccolini and roasted brussell sprouts. It was gloomy and grey outside with intermittent rain, We split the chocolate & oreo profilteroles and key lime meringue for dessert. The service was excellent and our waitress smiled often. Highly recommend!!

We celebrate all our special occasions at Insalata, including using the banquet room for a major birthday party, bemuses of the total experience which includes the food, wait service and atmosphere of the restaurant. It's our favorite restaurant in Marin.

Cozy Outdoor Dining with Excellent Food & Service We had a wonderful dinner here before a show at the Marin Civic, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience. Although it was a busy night and we made a last-minute reservation, we were lucky enough to get a table on the patio. Despite it being December, the outdoor heaters made the space incredibly cozy and comfortable — we didn’t mind the chill at all. The atmosphere was perfect for a pre-show dinner, and the staff, as always, provided excellent service. The food was delicious, and we appreciated the consistent quality that this place is known for. I’d happily dine outdoors again, even on a chilly night, as the heaters and the ambiance made it more than pleasant. Highly recommend for a casual, yet quality dining experience!
