Come and experience the renowned Hawaiian hospitality and aloha spirit of Maui at Hali’imaile General Store. With a hundred-year history and over three decades of providing delicious meals to both Upcountry Maui locals and visitors, our restaurant in Hali’imaile is a must-see for anyone visiting Maui. Join us for a taste of the island’s finest cuisine and an opportunity to uncover a piece of Maui’s rich history at our conveniently located restaurant near the town of Makawao and on the road to and from Haleakalā National Park.

Farm-to-table is not a new concept to us! Our restaurant has been promoting and featuring locally sourced produce, seafood, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian food, local Asian influences and modern preparations.

    Francesco was so amazing. He made us feel as though we were a part of the family. The food was delicious and the pineapple upside down cake was divine! We will definitely continue to go back. It’s one of our favorite places to eat.

    The curry was outstanding! The Teriyaki burger was juicy and yummy! The pineapple upside-down cake is to die for.

    Third time here for us, first time for our guests. Food was incredible as always and service was top notch.

    My expectations were somewhat tempered dining with a group of six on St. Valentine's Day. We were seated 45 minutes late for a 6:45 reservation. We later learned on our way out when the manager asks how our evening was that an auto accident had delayed many people arriving before our reservation. This information should have been shared as we were seated as I was was less than impressed with the level of service prior to our seating. We have dined at this location many times over the last 20 years and I was glad to see the food quality has remained unchanged with the change in ownership. We will return to this wonderful place but not on Valentine's Day!

    We (family of 4) go to HGS every year when visiting Maui. The food is consistently great each time and usually the service is too. Unfortunately, the service was abysmal this time. It took about 3 hours for us to have dinner and dessert. No alcohol was ordered so no bar delay. It took our waitress 15-20 minutes to bring us a children's menu after we had to ask for one, despite clearly having a child with us. Another 15 minutes went by waiting to place our order. We ordered salads and entrees. Our kid's meal came out with the salads. It took another 30 minutes after we were served our salads for our entrees to come. When our meals arrived, I asked if there was something little, like bread, that he could eat while we were eating since his meal was served so much later than his. The waitress apologized and said the kitchen was backed up and said she could get him some bread or rice. We found out later that we were charged $4 for 2 pieces of bread but then comp'd the bread due to "long kitchen time". We finished our meals and waited for our waitress to come to our table so we could order dessert. It was another long wait, and if not for it being Valentine's Day and having promised our kids they could order dessert, we would have left. Our waitress comes to our table and says "What are we waiting for here? The bill?" We asked for a dessert menu and waited for her to eventually bring us 2 dessert menus. We finished our dessert and waited another 15-20 minutes to receive our bill. We hand our waitress a credit card and wait even longer to get the credit card/receipt back. While waiting she's holding our receipt and card and laughing/chatting with a table near us for more than 5 minutes. My partner walked over and asked for our receipt and card and that we've been here long enough. Maybe there was a delay in the kitchen but we waited more than an hour of waiting for our waitress to do things the "kitchen" can't.

    I don't know if you ever need to change what you have going on now. Just keep it the way it is. Wonderful experience and Ive been there several times and it never disappointed us. ACACIA Construction
