Come and experience the renowned Hawaiian hospitality and aloha spirit of Maui at Hali’imaile General Store. With a hundred-year history and over three decades of providing delicious meals to both Upcountry Maui locals and visitors, our restaurant in Hali’imaile is a must-see for anyone visiting Maui. Join us for a taste of the island’s finest cuisine and an opportunity to uncover a piece of Maui’s rich history at our conveniently located restaurant near the town of Makawao and on the road to and from Haleakalā National Park.

Farm-to-table is not a new concept to us! Our restaurant has been promoting and featuring locally sourced produce, seafood, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian food, local Asian influences and modern preparations.

Join us at the iconic Hali'imaile General Store for Happy Hour in our bar and front lanai areas . We offer delicious food and drink specials daily from 2:30 - 4:30*. Food options include HGS favorites like our Crab Pizza and Upcountry Salad, as well as a delicious Herb Ricotta & Ceviche of the day. Wash it down with drink specials on select beer, wine and cocktails, including Wendy's champion Tai Mai. Don't forget to save room for our famous Pineapple Upside Down cake, featuring Maui Gold pineapples from right next door. *All Happy Hour food must be ordered no later than 4:30.

Join the Hali'imaile General Store Ohana for a Christmas Day Buffet. We will be serving an assortment of traditional and local dishes and there'll be something for everyone in the family. The price will be $85.00 for adults and $35.00 for keiki (tax and gratuity are additional). Please note that we will only be serving the buffet on this day and our regular menus will not be available. We look forward to spending this special day with you. Mele Kalikimaka!!!

Join the Hali'imaile General Store Ohana for our famous Thanksgiving Day Buffet. We will be serving an assortment of traditional Thanksgiving and local dishes and there'll be something for everyone in the family. Larry Golis will also be entertaining everyone with his acoustic guitar and vocals. The price will be $75 for adults and $35 for keiki (tax and gratuity are additional). Great service. incredibly noisy, The best fries ever !!! and the soggiest salad ever. So - a mixed plate on all levels. Not my go to for lunch .. what was the most wonderful was the romantic dining in the big back yard tent. Sadly the new owners don't keep it open for weekend dinners... too bad. You'll see me here again as soon as you do!!

The menu is lovely and the service was great. We've always eaten in the back of the restaurant but this time sat in front --which was nice but different. The waitress alerted us that a party of 16 was coming in and the noise level might be more than we would wish. We had a fish appetizer that was really good and my food (green goddess chopped salad and pork belly bao buns) was excellent, but my companions both felt that their entree, while good, wasn't outstanding (macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi). The desserts (lilikoi creme brulee and banana cheesecake were terrific. We love the service and the food and will definitely return.

Ate here twice on this visit to Maui and will be back!! Food was outstanding, service was top shelf!! Highly recommend!!

Short rib and ribeye were delicious. Drinks were good. Our server Ian was very nice and made us feel welcome even though we had late reservations. Very happy with our experience.

Wonderful old building with a delicious menu and nice beverages on offer. Our waiter, Joe, was exceptional as were the rest of the staff. Well worth it and a perfect spot to eat prior to our red-eye flight back to North America!

Excellent all around dining experience. Food was excellent (had pork belly bao starter, seafood curry). Portions were generous and both were delicious. Service was impeccable. There was plenty of parking just across the street.

We love Hali'imaile General Store as we live in Kula and it's our favorite restaurant in the Upcountry area. We have noticed the changes in the menu, which is great; however, the new chicken is a little bit of a disappointment - we'd like the former chicken brought back, if possible! One other person in our party had the new teriyaki burger, which he enjoyed...I suppose if someone wanted the regular wagu burger, it could be ordered without the teriyaki sauce and the pineapple...yes? I had the pork shank, which was great!
