   We came to Higgins before a show at the Schnitzer. We were in a rush to make the show. The waiter was a total pro. Guided us towards menu items that could be cooked quickly. Got us our food and check quickly. Food was great. (Had the salmon special and the fennel-citrus salad + drinks). And we made it to the show on time!

   Higgins continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Whenever I'm in town I try and dine there. They just do so many things right, from the delicious food, to the amazing cocktails and wine by the glass, to the great service staff. Also, the menu prices are still pretty reasonable - especially considering the quality. I do enjoy the "amuse bouche" they do as well, you don't see that at a lot of restaurants, especially in the US. I have to give a shout out to whoever procures their wines by the glass, last time it was their King Cab - a killer wine from Soos Creek in WA, and then they follow up with Schooler Nolan cab, which is another amazing find of excellent wine for $14/glass. Well done!

   I have hearing issue and it was so loud I could only hear about half of what my friend said. The lighting kept flashing all during the dinner. The food was fabulous as were our cocktails!

   Not too busy when we went at 5:30 but we just beat the rush. Service a bit slow anyway. Took 1:15 for dinner without dessert. Too many "specials" couldn't read about. I had the pork dish (from the menu, there was another pork special). The tenderloin was okay but there were also three different sausages I thought were bland. Didn't understand from the menu that was what I was getting. Friends had razor clams and oysters they liked although broccoli was cold. Overall a so-so experience. The noise level made conversation at our table for four difficult.

   Food and service were excellent. While two large groups contributed to the high level, the noise in the dining area was quite loud.

   The food particularly the black cod was perfectly cooked. My server was very knowledgeable about the menu and a joy to chat with. All in all, the experience was lovely and a pleasure to have on the first day.

   The entire experience was lovely. Our food and drinks were excellent. Great value for mussels and duck breast. Lovely crisp on the duck. Sauces were fabulous. Salad was delicious as was dessert and coffee. Loved the chatter of guests with no loud music. The butcher paper table runners were charming. Our service was exceptional.

   We have been to Higgins many times before but this evening the restaurant was far below par. Maybe a problem with the kitchen. The wait between ordering and receipt of our food was almost 45 minutes; my wife’s food was not hot, mine was fine. Lengthy delays plus inconsistent quality is a sign of problems in the kitchen. Higgins should and can do better. Disappointing meal.

    We have enjoyed Higgins many times and last night, after seeing the terrific performance of Hamilton, was excellent! Our server had a terrific sense of humor and the food was inventive and delicious. Higgins will remain one of our go-to spots!
