To Our Guests:
The amount of guests that you make a reservation for is what you will have available. Example: If you make a reservation for 4 guests and put in the notes that you need a table for 8 guests- you will not have a table for 8 guests but only for 4 guests that you made the reservation for.

Seats at the bar itself are NOT able to be reserved- they are very limited and are first come first serve. If you book the bar tables on Opentable- the reservation will be for the tables in the lounge that are located behind the bar.

Seats on the patio are also NOT able to be reserved. If a reservation is made and in the notes you have requested outside or patio this does not guarantee you an outside table.

    We had reservation at 745. Taken to table at 815. Had apps and opened wine. Waiting waiting waiting. At 930pm our waiter told us our filets were put behind a large party that showed up an hour AFTER us. We walked out. Will never go back.

    Been going here off and on for special occasions for over 15 years. After last night, there will never be another visit. Truly awful customer service. Our reservation was for 7:15 and al 4 of us were there on time. Checked in with the hostess and she told us that our table wasn’t ready. OK, fine, Wie’ll sit at the bar for a minute. I checked back in at 7:30 “we’re cleaning some tables now.” Checked back in at 7:45 “we can’t just ask people to leave”. We finally got seated at 7:58, and despite the hostess telling us they would move our bar tab to the table, the bartender pitched a hissy fit and insisted we close out right then. If we had known it would almost be another hour to get drinks at the table, we’d have ordered another round before we left. Our waiter didn’t show up taking drink orders until 8:21, and the drinks didn’t arrive until 8:46, at which point he took our order for salads and steaks. Salads showed up at 9:11 and the steaks finally arrived at 9:41. And a reminder that our reservation was for 7:15(!). The place was busy but not crazy busy - I’ve seen it busier in years past. I couldn’t tell if they were short staffed or incompetent and at this point I don’t care. For this price point, you’re selling an experience, not just a hunk of meat. And out experience was bad enough that I will never return under any circumstance.

    The four course meal was a great meal for the money I had the full 8 ounce fillet cooked perfectly. The salad was amazing prior to the state getting there

    As always, the service was excellent. We had a variety of entrees, including shrimp & grits, the prime rib sandwich, and the crabcake sandwich. All of them were perfectly prepared. Hondos is our "go to" restaurant in the west end of Richmond.

    I ate at Hondo's for the first time today. I had the tarragon chicken salad on a croissant, which was delicious. Our server, Mike, was courteous and attentive, but never intrusive. The order came out within a reasonable time. The manager dropped by our table as well to ask if we enjoyed our lunch. I was impressed by the quality of the food and the staff, and would eat here again.
