The French Gazebo fka Kathy's Gazebo A Boca Raton Classic French Restaurant well known for its Dover Sole! For more than 35 years this beautiful restaurant has been a secret staple of Boca Raton. Chef Miguel prepares wonderful dishes from Dover Sole to Duck, Lamb Chops, Steaks and Salmon. Make sure you try the Carrot Mousse. All presented by a well experienced team of Servers in a delightful atmosphere that has been newly remodeled.                                                                                         Our first time at the French Gazebo was a disappointment. For a meal that was $100 per person after tip and one drink, the quality of the food was perhaps what I'd expect to get in a restaurant like Carraba's or Applebee's. My wife's shrimp scampi was overcooked and bland in taste. My duck a la orange was good but definitely not memorable. The best part of the meal: the bread and butter... delicious! And service quality was outstanding too, very attentive and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant was very busy and we spent about 2 hours there from the time we sat down to when left; this does not weigh in negatively since these kinds of places are not where you go for a quick meal... that would be Carraba's :(

                                                                                        For some reason (incompetence), the hostess forgot about us and we ended up waiting an hour for our reserved table. Then she lied about whether she had forgotten. She was not apologetic about it at all. She offered us only one glass of wine (not two) for the slight. I believe my free time is worth more than $7.50 per hour. I will never go back! I have no confidence that my reservation will be honored!

                                                                                        Swordfish special was outstanding. Caesar salad was bland and average. A French restaurant should do better. Service was excellent. Ambience was fabulous and comfortable. We will return.

                                                                                        We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and the rest of the evening went just as well. Service was efficient, but not rushed, and the food was delicious. Our guests had driven up from Hollywood, and they said they look forward to returning again.

                                                                                        The crabmeat cocktail was fresh and delicious. The snapper was at its best. They are known for their duck which I found very gamely and no matter how much sauce I smothered it in, that gamey taste came through. Disappointed. My biggest grievance is the cost of a straight up cocktail. They not only charge more than any other restaurant for the same drink - which was only filled 2/3rds of the way - they charge an extra $2.00 for up!! I cannot remember the last time I was charged an up charge - NYC circa 80’s. That $2.00 will have me thinking twice before I return. Petty.
