Leonard Wilfred Davies, born 19 December 1906, started a butcher's dynasty now four generations old. Superb steak and sides. When some restaurants say they grill a steak, what they mean is they put it in a frying pan under a grill… Not here! Proper grilled with a lovely charred crust, perfectly pink interior with delicious sides and sauce. Finally a proper steak in Shropshire….

Lovely pub/restaurant in romantic location by the river. The food was well-cooked and presented and was good value - I had fish soup and lamb. I liked that the plate was full; not stingy portions. Meal included good quality veg. I would recommend arriving early for a drink beforehand in the cosy bar or in the lounge.
