Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. Upper scale place, food is expensive but that is usually the case with a good steakhouse. My steak was fantastic and everything we had was superb.

We've eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad experience or meal. We commented this last time how Marche manages to hire really good people. They are personable, caring and efficient. The menu changes regularly, capitalizing on what is fresh/available at the time. I had the trout with-wait for it-crab butter. It was so delicious. The skin was so crispy. My husband had the cassoulet. He has eaten a lot of cassoulet over his lifetime, and he truly enjoyed it. The red cabbage soup was sweet and hearty. Lovely. I will offer there are areas of the restaurant that are quieter than others, if you have hearing issues.
