We had a great Anniversary dinner! Great food, great atmosphere with my favorite company! Fantastic job. 

It's hard to think of a finer place in town than MDRD. You sit high above the city and the river with commanding views in several directions, and if you time it right, you'll be rewarded with a glorious sunset. This is a very special place to me; I'm usually here on 4th of July, New Year's Eve, and my birthday. Tonight's Patatas Bravas paired with the Pulpo a la Gallega made a strong start as appetizers. I followed with the Chuleta Iberico (Bone-In Pork Chop), which was very moist and tender--I admit to hoisting the bones to nibble off the last bits. I finished with the Basque Cafe Expres. Barman Levi confirmed my choice of Clavel Rojo as a cocktail, Gran Bazana (white) with dinner, and an artichoke-based Amaro as a wrap-up digestif. Alejandro is an accomplished and gracious host; Erica is also wonderful behind the bar. Tonight's occasion was for my birthday, and a "farewell" dinner ahead of a 2-week trip to Kenya, leading a team of eye doctors to provide exams and reading glasses in the poorest country of Kenya.

The service was the perfect balance of not too much and not too little. It's a lovely restaurant with a great menu. Our mussels were a little fishy, but we cleaned our plates with everything else.

The kohlrabi salad is my absolute favorite! I'm addicted! And, of course, the chocolate souffle is the best dessert in Grand Rapids. Brian was our server tonight & did a fabulous job. Justin stopped by to see us, also. What a great personality! I love the staff there. They always work together to get to know us- from welcoming us to serving us.

Wonderful evening. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. This was my second time here and I will make it a regular stop any time I and in town.
