Bluestone is a Chicago-style restaurant in Evanston that offers homestyle cooking in a warm and welcoming environment. Owner John, whose obsession with golf led to the more than 250 pin flags decorating the restaurant, opened Bluestone after transitioning from commercial film production.     If you're looking for a great dining experience with top-notch service, this place might still be worth considering, just don’t expect the food to match the price tag. This is our second time eating from here, while the service was exceptional — the staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome — the food didn’t quite live up to the high prices.

    Perfect spot for a quiet Tuesday night birthday meal, trying some heretofore unsampled French cuisine in a comfortable and warm setting. Our server was conversant in all aspects of the menu and attentive to every detail, especially the water glasses and bread. I had a pre-dinner Jilly's Fashioned cocktail that really hit the spot, and the appetizers, beet salad, and entrees (bouillabaisse in my case) were winners.

    Great service. Big portions with lots to choose from on the menu, no matter what you’re feeling like. Love the kale and quinoa salad.
