The restaurant can accomodate up to 160 covers inside and a further 50 outside so you will not be cramped for space. Stark is located in East Mersea, Essex and is owned and run by Ben and Sophie Crittenden, who opened their first site in Broadstairs back in December 2016 with the aim of securing a better work/life balance and enabling Ben to enjoy more time with their three young children, Ivy, Rosa and Arlo. Before relocating to Mersea Island, Stark was the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Thanet and one of five in the whole of Kent.At Stark, only one, set tasting menu is served with no options or alternatives available. Excellent evening having a family celebration meal for our daughter’s 40th birthday. Most of the dishes are gluten free or can be made gluten free which is great for us with 2 of the family being gluten free. There is a good range of dishes to choose from and the quality of the food is very good. Service was exceptional, always at the right time and no hovering. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Pleasant venue, friendly attentive staff. We went on a Wednesday, but at 1pm, some of the dishes on the pick of the Day had already sold out, so to get full choice, so even at midweek, book your table earlier to get the full choice.
