Mushrooms are the heart of what we do at the Joel Palmer House. We have always endeavored to obtain seasonal and local ingredients and we use many locally produced greens, herbs, and vegetables, some of which come from our own culinary garden. We are frequently inspired by ingredients found in the cuisines of France, China, Thailand, Poland and India, so we call our cooking "freestyle." Our dishes pair well the celebrated wines of Oregon, especially Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Our extensive, Oregon-focused wine list has been awarded the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. Of special note, The Joel Palmer House ranks as one of Oregon's finest historic homes and is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Oregon Historic Register. Built in 1857, the house is Dayton's oldest standing structure.     This was our first time coming to this restaurant and we will definitely come back. Our food was delicious. Our server was the nicest woman!!! I dont think ive ever had someone bring me that much butter! My husband and I really enjoyed the whole experience.

    Great, unique food and very good service. Pizza was excellent with the house-made tomato sauce. The cocktails are also unique and very high quality. The service was fast and friendly, and the place is not too crowded (tables are well-spaced) or noisy. Great place to hang out, enjoy cocktails, and good food. We go here often. In the summer, it's also nice to sit outside on the deck. Highly recommended.

    Wasia, Leo, and Nancy are amazing servers! Attentive and showing sincere customer service. Wasia ALWAYS ensures we receive our "locals" discount. I've ordered just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed with anything. Husband and I recently enjoyed, among other tasty items, just about the best Caesar salad we've ever had!
