Set under soaring ceilings with fans languidly circling above, the restaurant and its adjoining terraces are the venues for a relaxed, yet refined a la carte dining experience. Start with drinks by the fireplace in the adjoining lounge or by the courtyard fountain on a balmy summer evening. Guests as well as visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner seven days at Tower Lodge. Drawing fresh local produce from a community of local Hunter Valley producers and growers, as well as from the Hope family’s own Angus cattle farms in the lush green pastures of the Upper Hunter, the menu is a culinary experience of the region best shared with a loved one, or with family and friends around the table.Within view - or easy walking distance - is the kitchen garden where the kitchen and gardening teams tend to a growing section of edibles including herbs greens and native ingredients. Just across the way is a pasture home to the Hope’s own very local Angus cattle.

Today, our Semillon, Shiraz, and Merlot vines are all that remain of this once sprawling 500-acre estate.We're proud to honour the legacy of James Busby, the proud Scot known as the father of Australian wine. Busby brought 500 cuttings from Europe to Australia and planted them in the Hunter region of Belford, not far from Lovedale.At Saltire Estate, we're committed to providing great quality wine at an affordable price. You’ll need to be in on a few secrets to visit Coal & Cedar. This hidden speakeasy has no signage and no doorbell. Instead, you’ll need to text a special code to a number on the wall and a host will open the door and usher you inside. Rest assured, it’s worth the effort, having just won Best Regional bar in Australia 2016.Once inside, you’ll discover a moody, eclectic cocktail bar with an urban edge. Exposed brick walls and dark timber are complemented by dim lighting from vintage chandeliers. Holding fewer than 60 guests, it’s this old world ambience that sets Coal & Cedar apart from Newcastle’s bar scene.Ethan and Ryan are the team behind the venture. In 2014, they packed their bags and moved from Sydney to the state’s largest regional city to work on their new dream bar. They found the perfect site on Hunter Street, which was just dingy enough to house a Prohibition-style speakeasy. Transforming the space with taxidermy, eccentric images and many a bottle of booze.

    Amazing food although it was not overly busy we did have to wait quite a while for the food, some complimentary bread would have been nice but overall we did enjoy it!

    Had a lovely Christmas dinner in the bistro. Our 2 year old son was well looked after with a colouring book and the selection for him was great. Food was lovely, service was really friendly. Overall a wonderful Christmas experience!

    My husband and my self had a great experience at Tower Lodge Restaurant Pokolbin when we dined there on Christmas Day for a memorable lunch. The service was amazing. Food was delicious. Staff very friendly and efficient the ambiance beautiful. We will sing the praises of Tower Lodge to all. We hope to return again in the near future.
