The first Oven Restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Lincoln, has been around since 1988 and owned/operated by a dedicated family of chefs who have been creating Indian cuisine for over twenty seven years. The Oven Restaurants specialize in Northern Indian Cuisine which is known for its rich colors, flavor profiles and a unique style of cooking in a clay oven, called the Tandoor. Chicken, shrimp and lamb marinate for several hours in a yogurt and spice mixture and placed on skewers while various breads are being hand made by our chefs fresh each day. The skewers and breads are then placed in the tandoor over an open flame where breads are cooked to perfection and the rich flavors are sealed in to ensure tenderness and quality of the meat.     We couldn’t choose between the sides so ordered most of them to share at our table. All were dynamite but the Asian spin on Brussel sprouts won overall award for presentation and flavor

    Great meal. We ordered two types of hot tea, hot rock beef, fried calamari, Brussels sprouts, 5 different sushi rolls, and fried ice cream. Everything was great. The waitress was amazing. She left us alone to chat and then would magically appear as soon as we needed something. She refilled both of our tea pots like 4 times. It was 15° outside so it tasted good to drink something hot. Some calamari can be really chewy, but this one was really tender and delicious. The rainbow roll, iguana, and crunchy red rolls were our favorites.

    I had a fantastic date night last night at the Green Gateau. The food was fantastic and the whole experience was lovely. I highly recommend here for a romantic date night or an intimate family dinner.
