Leonard Wilfred Davies, born 19 December 1906, started a butcher's dynasty now four generations old. His butchers typical cheeky sense of humour now lives on through his grandchildren along with his knowledge of butchery.In 1997 Leonard’s grandson Richard opened The Station Inn, which quickly generated a great reputation for quality steak. Overlooking the historic Ludford bridge, just a few minutes walk from the town centre of Ludlow, the Charlton Arms is the epitome of a charming Pub.     Superb steak and sides. When some restaurants say they grill a steak, what they mean is they put it in a frying pan under a grill… Not here! Proper grilled with a lovely charred crust, perfectly pink interior with delicious sides and sauce. Finally a proper steak in Shropshire….

    Lovely pub/restaurant in romantic location by the river. The food was well-cooked and presented and was good value - I had fish soup and lamb. I liked that the plate was full; not stingy portions. Meal included good quality veg. I would recommend arriving early for a drink beforehand in the cosy bar or in the lounge.

    WGEN BOOKING I requested the ramp to be put outside as I am disabled and use a very small scooter. The ramp WAS NOT put outside. Luckily that day I was with friends who could go inside to ask. The object was so that I can be independent and use the restaurant with others who need the ramp. Why wasn’t a permanent slope/ramp put in when alterations were in the planning stages. No outdoor drinking area would have been lost. Very disappointed before we even got to the table.
