Claro is where New York and Oaxaca meet – the result of chef/owner T.J. Steele’s long-time love for Oaxacan food and culture. Over his many years in Oaxaca, TJ cultivated relationships with local craftsmen, artists, mezcaleros, cooks and farmers throughout the region. Claro is dedicated to making everything by hand, including the masa, cheeses, chorizo and moles. Il ristorante è un tipico ristorante classico americano, elegante, fa cucina italiana adattata ai gusti internazionali ma di buon livello. Buona la pizza, fatta in forno a legna, buoni i cocktail. I prezzi però a mio parere sono esagerati, anche per New York. Sarebbero giustificati se dall’ intera sala si godesse la vista, ma purtroppo non è così, solo i posti fuori o alla finestra hanno un po’ di vista, comunque più sul Manhattan bridge che sul Brooklyn.
