The Hoffman House restaurant, in the scenic Hudson Valley, opened for business in June of 1977. The building is a fine example of Early American Dutch rubble architecture featuring wide planked random width board floors, a fire place in each of the main rooms and many small multi-level rooms.The Hoffman House is located at the corner of the historic Stockade district in Kingston NY, and once served as fortification and a lookout. Today the Hoffman House serves a continental fare, featuring steaks, fresh seafood, pasta specialties and homemade artisan desserts. The food was very good and well-priced. I ordered salmon, which was cooked med-rare, as I requested. Husband had coconut chicken with twice-baked potatoes.l0portions were large. My only complaint was that the room had no atmosphere. Although we sat by a glorious fire and there were nice LED table lights, the room chandelier was so bright that it ruined the ambience. Felt like a diner. Of they put low-wattage lighting in the current fixture, and lit up tables individually problem solved.

I had New Year’s Day brunch here with my mom and sisters. It is such a cool setting. So cozy and chic. The staff were so friendly and service was excellent. Can’t wait to come back for a drink at the bar!
