From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Delightful! As locals here for the first time, we had heard that it was noisy and out-of-this-world expensive. We found neither to be true. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening, the pace of service, and our server Amy was excellent.

Such a lovely buffet! One of the best brunches we ever had. The smoked salmon appetizer & the beef brisket and grits was delicious as well duck fat & bread pudding. The fruit was fresh and the pastry table had a wide assortment of tasty pastries & breads. And the standard eggs, sausage, bacon & potatoes was also delicious. The waitstaff were friendly and efficient. And the room was spacious and the noise level was low.
