Skull Creek Dockside Restaurant, dropped its anchor in the Fall of 2017 and forever changed the culinary landscape of the Lowcountry. In early 2017 the partners of the restaurant began to transform it into their vision for Hilton Head's newest waterfront dining destination. This restaurant, which resembles an old-style river house, is full of authentic architecture, reclaimed wood, and nautical accents that leave you feeling like you've stepped into a Melville novel. The sweeping waterfront view is showcased by full pane glass windows throughout the restaurant which you can enjoy no matter where you dine. River House does have a dressy casual dress code consisting of no shorts, flip flops, baseball hats or tank tops in the dining room for the gentlemen. Comparable attire for the ladies. Children under 16 are exempt. We do offer complimentary pants to guests that may need them. River House corkage policy is a maximum of 3 bottles per reservation without management consent at $35 per bottle. River House has a 24-hour cancellation and No-Show Policy consisting of $25 per person plus a 18% SVC Charge. In the South, there’s an intimate connection between the table and the land. Our fertile soil feeds corn and cattle. The palmettos provide cover for quail and game. And the ocean provides its bounty with the incoming tide. The River House is a culinary celebration of this relationship and our professed love for the land and waters of the Lowcountry.

This was our 3rd visit. Food has been consistently good. Last night I was brought the wrong entree even though the bill reflected the item that I ordered.

Arrived for the early dinner. We had reserved outdoors seating. We were greeted quickly and orders taken. Our drinks were brought out immediately and bread/salad followed. My husband ordered the prime rib and I ordered the filet topped with crabmeat/hollandaise sauce. Both were spot on! Service was outstanding as well. A wonderful birthday/early Christmas dinner!

We stopped in for a drink at lunch, read the dinner menu and immediately made reservations for that evening. The drink menu was varied and excellent, the dinner menu had hidden gems and each meal was delicious and the service was perfect. If you’re ever in Beaufort, SC this is a must do restaurant!!

Everything was great, everyone was great. Heidi made some recommendations and all were as she said. It was a nice last meal with friends on our last night in HHI for 2024 before going back home to NY.
