Tim Zekki was born and raised in Cyprus but has lived and worked in the UK for 35 years. He has a passion for local and seasonal ingredients, sourcing sustainable produce and items that he forages in Somerset woodlands and along the coast. Tim’s menus reflect his travels worldwide and the food he loves. ‘My passion,’ he says, ‘is to combine simple ingredients - with some elaborate sauces - and my aim being nothing more than to delight the palate.’ In addition to the à la carte selection of sharing dishes, Tim offers a set, fixed-price multi-course menu once a month. .Local produce includes lamb and beef from Wonky Horn just outside Wiveliscombe, from the town’s local butchers, Thorne’s, and vegetables and salad sourced from nearby Wagtail Farm and Ray’s Veg at Halse.

The highest quality home made food using only the best locally sourced ingredientsWe only use locally sourced fresh produce, and if it’s at all possible to make it ourselves – we do! - including all sauces, desserts, breads and ice creams. Amazing food as always, I just wish that when booking the Experience menu, we could be put on a larger table - the tiny ones for two are so tightly crammed in together, people can’t squeeze past to get out and the table has so many dishes, crockery and glasses on, it’s too overcrowded for my liking. Overall though, a great meal and I love the fact the menu is changed often.

Outstanding food, wonderful flavours, excellent service. Really hope they find a new venue after 28 December. It’ll be a great loss otherwise.

On a dreary Monday evening in November, we weren't expecting much when we booked a table at the Royal Oak. We were completely mistaken! The food, ambiance and service was all excellent and much better than expected. We will certainly be back, and tell all our friends too!
