Lehja is an award winning modern Indian restaurant located in Short Pump Town Center in Richmond. Our Executive Chef Sunny Baweja has been named Semifinalist for the prestigious James Beard Award for"Best Chef Mid Atlantic" category for 2019 and 2020. We have been proudly named as “Restaurant of the Year” by Richmond Magazine and “Best Richmond Restaurant” by EATER in 2023,2024. Esquire named Lehja “100 restaurants America can’t afford to lose during pandemic.”
Sunny always strives the freshest ingredients and seasonal menu. Our Wine List has been awarded "Best of Award of Excellence" by Wine Spectator. Sunny Baweja has been invited to Food Festivals across the country . Sunny has won many competitions around like Broad Appetit, Burger Blast, American Heart Association’s Heart ball 2018 “Chefs Challenge”to name a few.                                                                             Service was terrible. I am not sure what is up with this trying to remember orders instead of writing them down, but never get them correct and when you come back 30 sec later and what we just ordered does not look good. Ordered refills on drinks after our food arrives. waiter came back with the drinks 30 min later after we were finished eating. At that time told us they were tapped out on the one. We told him fine and did not want a replacement. Asked for the bill and that came 20 min later. Oh and guess what, the drink we didn't get was on the bill, even after I asked him to make sure it was not on there. Nothing like padding the bill $10.00. Never came back to the table and had to track him down. Waited another 10 min for the corrected bill. Brings a half full glass of beer as a peace offering while we are trying to walk out the door. We sent it away and started to leave and the manger came over with the same half filled beer for us. Honestly what happened to this place. the food is still good, but with no service, I would just say get take out.

                                                                            Accommodated my hangry son within mins upon arrival with large bowl of rice. Waiter attentive and polite. We had a nice dinner.

                                                                            We have not eaten a lot of Indian food, but when we described what we wanted, our waiter recommended a marvelous goat appetizer that was one of the tastiest dishes (with just the right amount of spice) that we have had in our 38 years of dining out together, here and in Russia, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Amsterdam, and Ecuador. (Thank you, Ajay!) Go ... eat ... enjoy -- they even have a wine ready to compliment your delicious meal, and it won't "break the bank"!

                                                                            First visit. Hyped by many locals as the best Indian food in Richmond. We haven’t visited enough other Indian restaurants to make that statement, but the food was quite good and the service was excellent.

                                                                            We always have a great meal at Lehja. I was my husband's birthday, and he was treated to a special desert - strawberry/rose ice cream - delicious! Thanks for a lovely dinner.

                                                                            It was a pleasant evening to be able to gather with friends who were already familiar with the restaurant. We were given the opportunity to order for them and they had a chance to taste some things they had never enjoyed previously. We were able to sit in the dining extension near the open window. A great evening made only better by delicious food and a great wine choice.
