   Lon's is a go-to place for atmosphere and food. We like to take guests from out of town who always enjoy dining there. However, this time, I was slightly disappointed as we seemed to be rushed through the meal. In fact, the staff started clearing the table while people were still eating. I mentioned this to the waiter, and she immediately stopped. Three guests were very satisfied with their meal but my togarashi seared tuna was definitely not up to Lon's usual standards. There were four thumb size pieces of tuna which were a little dry but tasty. In the middle of the plate were fried wantons with a small amount of shaved cabbage which took up most of the plate. It was inadequate for a price tag of $28. That said, I think my meal was an anomaly and will still return in the future. However, I will order something else the next time I dine there....which happens to be this Sunday.

   We took a dear friend for dinner at Lon’s to honor her 90th birthday. While the ambiance is lovely at the Hermosa/Lon’s, our experience this time with the food and service was sub-par especially for the prices charged. We had a 5:30 reservation, arrived on time and immediately were seated at a table with the sun right in our eyes. They then moved us to a shaded table that had unstable chairs and the table wobbled. They did correct this but we had to remind them. It took more than 30 min for someone to take our drink order and another 20 to take our food order. A bread basket never came until we asked. For what we ordered, the food was very over-valued and tasteless. For a 5:30 reservation - we did not get out of there until 8:45! Not what we expected! We did let them know it was a birthday celebration, and for that they brought a strange card to our friend that really wasn’t necessary. Also, after telling us they had dessert on the way for her after dinner, they delivered a couple of very small candies and 1 raspberry on a plate (strange). For the caliber of restaurant that this is supposed to be, and at these prices, we were not impressed. We are here regularly from NY every spring, and have dined at Lon’s in previous years and have enjoyed it. However, we will not be returning in the future.

   My wife and I have been to Hermosa Inn to spend some time together there for Valentine’s and we often return to Lon’s for dinners and brunches. This last time as with every other time we’ve been there was nothing short of superb! On all points, their accommodations, their cuisine, staff and stellar service were all phenomenal. We had dinner for my wife’s Birthday last night and we literally had the time of our lives! Highly Recommend going there! You will not be disappointed in the least! This place holds a special spot in our heart due to the romantic environment and the great times we’ve shared together over the years…

    The menu was expensive but we knew that going in from reading the internet. No surprises. The expense of the food was off set by the hospitable and knowledgeable staff, and the superior ambiance.
