Maybe the best restaurant in Mendocino, but not a gastronomic experience. Hostess busy, waited five minutes in lobby before she had time to check our reservation and sit us, waiter very friendly but forgetful, served soup without spoon, had to request water refill, dishes arrived before we were halfway done with our cocktails, etc. Food was decent, nothing more, Overall,,, too many misses to warrant a better review.

Food was okay, loved the corn bread but everything else was average. The server was a really nice young guy but overall service was slow. I ordered a round of drinks before dinner and got them 15-20 mins later when I was finished dinner.

My husband had the Nightly Noodles, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. He was pleased with the tender, handmade pasta. The soup of the day, beef barley was outstanding. I had the halibut, which was moist and flavorful. The housemade ice creams are always excellent.

Just a few minor critiques: We ordered an appetizer - appetizer plates and a serving spoon should have been provided without us having to ask. More bread was provided, but no additional butter. Asked about a wine - waiter said it was "OK". Seems like "good" or a more descriptive term should be used. Should know more about the wines.

Outstanding food experience. Alan Kantor continues to produce outstanding dishes with fresh, local ingredients. We were very pleased from appetizer to salad to entree to dessert. The service is attentive and friendly. Wine list is fairly priced and features local producers. MacCallum House stands out even in comparison to the other highly regarded restaurants in Mendocino.

We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at MacCallum House. Our food was great, the service wonderful, and the ambience was very cozy and intimate. We would definitely go back.
