Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

If you go for brunch, get the beignets, and ask for the potatoes with creme fraiche, you won't regret it. The omelets are superb, and my dining partner loved the salmon hash.

We went for a special Beaujolais dinner but the OpenTable reservation did not capture that fact of my reservation so we had to order off the regular menu. That was a disappointment! The service was excellent and the food was good!

As always, the food is fantastic at Marche' while the service is always excellent. Last night, Ramil (?) was our server, and he did a super job of taking care of all our culinary needs. My wife had the Roast Duck, and I had Steak Frites. Both dishes were excellent. One can never go wrong eating at Marche'.

Unique menu that changes with the season. Authentic French menu. It feels special.

This is our favorite restaurant in Eugene. Food is always consistent and excellent. We had the seafood tower and it was amazing.

This is the second time we've gone to Marché. The food was quite good both times. The first time we had an exceptionally great waiter. This time....not so much. We checked in with the host and were seated and then...nothing. It took at least 5 minutes for someone to come by with some water. Another 5 until our server showed up to give us a menu. And then another 15 until he came back by to say "Oh the wine glasses should have arrived." Then he left for another 5 minutes or more and showed up with a couple of glasses. He opened the wine we brought and then left the corkscrew with cork and the foil on the table. After about another 10 minutes he came back and took our order. The food came out leisurely, but not exceptionally long waits. The one thing that was super bad at the end of the meal -- he brought a dessert birthday ice cream for my partner, but did not pick up his partially finished entree plate before. The dessert was then tainted by the smell of the entree. We of course closed the place down because the dinner took 2 hours. I like leisurely meals, but this was more just haphazard.

Marche never fails to surprise with something new and delicious; this time it was an amazing cocktail called the Petrichor. Amazing!

Dependably, dinner was lovely. The Alsace offerings were lovely and paired brilliantly with the wine. Our server was especially good: attentive without being in our faces, knowledgeable about the food and wine, and very pleasant. It’s rare to find servers who are well-trained these days. I love Marché.
