Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

                                                                        Excellent as usual! Our waiter was very attentive, sorry that I forgot his name. I go here when I’m in town visiting my college kids. The food is always delicious.

                                                                        Our server, Coby, ignored us the whole meal in spite not being over run or too busy. There was no engagement or attention provided at all, it was to the point of being invisible and disrespected. Other tables were served and waited on, we were ignored and told more than once that there was no hurry to leave but were then told twice that we could move to the bar. There was no line waiting for our table and they were still open for another hour. The food was ok, not great, but there was no match in the value price, quality and service. I don’t plan to return and will definitely share my experience with others. I would expect a lot more from a $250 date night dinner.

                                                                        I had the pork dish I would give it about a seven on the 10 scale. It was OK. The fried oysters were very good. My wife ordered the steak frites medium, and they were served medium rare at best and turned her stomach. Made a reservation a month and a half ago and the table that they had for us never became available so we were seated in the bar. Overall experience was poor to average at best.

                                                                        Outstanding service, and delicious food. Particularly enjoyed the crab cake starter. The steak frites was well seasoned and the duck breast was perfectly seared. Highly recommended.

                                                                        Our steak was cooked perfectly, as were the other items we ordered from the menu. We enjoyed being able to order from both the fixed menu and the regular one. Our Christmas Eve was once again made special by everyone at Marche. Merci!
