Well, Mariposa got slammed today with over 130 lunches served before we arrived, but, like the agile butterfly she is, she rose to her usual standard of excellence and performed another luncheon ballet. Superb food, superb service, and well, a nice ambiance too: this place is just plain friendly in an age when many restaurants seem to want to process their diners and turn over tables as fast as possible. No rush here. Just a relaxing good time.

The menu is interesting and varied, I love the popover and consommé, it’s a nice start. I usually have the orange salad plate with an almond and green apple chicken salad- they make a really delicious and fresh chicken salad, one of the best. The staff is very gracious and accommodating. I would like to commend the nice blonde lady at the front- she is always kind and manages to find me a seat at the banquette which is so cozy given that I’m usually on my own. She works very hard to make people feel welcome and seated as soon as she can. Also, Eric has waited on me a few times and he’s prompt, very pleasant and welcoming. People watching is fun there.

Waited my whole meal for lemon to put in my water. The tuna and egg salad was definitely less than I’m normally served. Should have been even more because I don’t eat chicken salad, so substituted it with extra tuna. Didn’t appear to be on my plate. As a customer forever at Short Hills Mall, Neiman Marcus, this was definitely disappointing.

Very cool, as usual. Stylish customers, stylish food. Friendly service. Our server suggested I'd probably be more satisfied with my cheeseburgers if I ordered them "Medium Well." He was spot on. My burger was delivered perfectly cooked. Very good advice!
