Atmosfera affascinante

Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.

Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. In the summer, al fresco dining is also available on a charming cobblestone terrace.

Mia Francesca is the classic, small setting for fine dining — cozy but not cluttered, comfortable and quiet in the early evening, becoming livelier in a “friendly” way as the evening progresses. The wait staff moves quickly but unhurriedly, always appearing at precisely the moment they are needed. Service is attentive but unobtrusive, and it is a well-coordinated team effort. Our young waiter was knowlegeable and personal. The red wine my wife and I ordered by the glass was excellent and reasonably priced for generous pours. Our friend’s Old Fashioned was perfect. The drink menu is extensive but not overwhelming in either scope or pricing. The food menu offers variety but doesn’t overwhelm, either. We had an asparagus salad that was the perfectly fresh and light starter. On the other hand, the bruschetta was a large, beautifully prepared tray of four servings that could have been a light meal in itself. It was a perfect blend of flavors and textures! Finally, we had a house prepared Rolli allá Francesca that was rich without being heavy. And it was almost to lovely to eat. My wife and I shared those three courses and had more than enough. Our friends had the same salad, the beef carpaccio — a huge plate of vegetables over thin slices of beef, a large bowl of perfectly fried calamari with a rich red sauce for dipping, and two immense meatballs, all of which they loved and fully consumed. All agreed that it was one of the best meals we’d eaten out in a long time — and we eat out often and well. Don’t miss this gem of a restaurant!

I loved it! Cozy and delicious. Our favorites were the burrata appetizer, the Italian salad and the rigatoni vodka!

Pasta was served warm not hot and not very tasty, tables wsy to close to each other , service charge a big disappointment! Staff was great except for ur cook!

Great spot for date night! Server apologized for our food taking long (which we barely noticed) and offered us free deserts. Lovely staff! And great food!

The food we had at Mia Francesca’s was great, but what really set it apart was the service. Ben was a fantastic waiter: extremely kind, personable, and offered stellar menu recommendations! We are very glad we chose Mia Francesca’s for our Valentine’s Day celebration and especially grateful to Ben for going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely night out.

Very good Italian! The room would get cold when the staff would open the back door but otherwise an excellent time.
