Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.

Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. In the summer, al fresco dining is also available on a charming cobblestone terrace.

I hadn’t been to Mia Francesca’s in about 15 years and the food was still amazingly delicious. No wonder it’s still in business after 35 years!!

Mia Francesca has been our "go to" neighborhood restaurant in the city since we relocated to the 10 years ago. Prior to this, we also dined hundreds of times at the Scott Harris restaurants over the years and have never been disappointed. Service: Daniel S. was our waiter on our recent visit and he was excellent. He was constantly checking with us to see if we needed anything. He said he was graduate student who was working part time and exhibited great people skills. We also met Kristen who we assume was the floor manger and she too was very persobable stopping at all of the tables and talking to guests. Food: Excellent! Our entrees were made with fresh ingredients with just the right seasoning and served piping hot. Kudos to the chefs for keeping up with the pace and delivering such great food. Ambiance: Although a fairly moderate sized restaurant for the city, we really like the vibe because most of the diners appear to be repeat customers. There is also a nice mix of people of all ages which we appreciate.

Enjoyed our date night at Mia Francesca. The food was very good. We got the burrata and calamari to start, with penne alla vodka and the rolli as our entrees. The service was okay...we could've used a little more attention for drinks and ordering. We also sat at a table near the only walkway through the restaurant which felt too tight and kept getting bumped. Overall great dinner and we will be back!

Excellent food but service was sub par .. staff seemed disorganized and overwhelmed! Never asked for second drinks , left menus etc! Miss the old days no longer the best cosmo in Chicago and the noise level is awful! It’s been a family favorite for 20 yrs but over the last 3 we rarely go back … sorry to see this

I had not been to dinner here in 30 years since I moved from Chicago. I returned over a weekend visit and took my daughter. It was even better than I remembered.

Absolutely awful service. 20 minutes for each drink order. Cold food. Nobody bussed the table. Will never go back.
