Many of them, which were attached to inns, were opened as resting places for travelers needing a place to stop, relax and fortify themselves. Of course the local residents frequented the taverns too, purchasing drinks and meals as well as participating in lively conversations. Taverns were the focal point for neighbors to come together, exchange news, talk of politics, and share in the general feeling of conviviality. Taverns were firmly established as gathering places for the light hearted socializing, serious talk, and of course, a
hearty meal accompanied by a tasty libation or two.

Great food, great service. I had mentioned that it was our anniversary and we got a nice Card on our table the minute we arrived. The filet mignon and the ribs were really good. Love their wine list.

Went for 3 people in our groups birthday dinner overall delicious food and presentation. Service was incredibly slow for restaurant in this price range very friendly staff but incredibly slow took 30 mins to get our orders in— food was slow to the table too but great. Filet quality was impressive. Desserts were tasty and had great presentation. Nice wine and bar selections also. I would definitely go back but expect more efficient service next time for this price range

We went to Mill's Tavern to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the experience couldn't have been better for the 4 of us. The service was excellent....attentive but never intrusive. The restaurant is a little loud, but that is a positive, as we didn't feel our conversations were being overheard by everyone else. The food was cooked perfectly: filet, swordfish, and duck all got rave reviews. As one in our party said, "The only bad part of the evening was having to leave."

Sensational waiter, lovely setting, great food. Mills is our favorite Providence restaurant for all those reasons. We particularly enjoyed the attentive, pleasant waiter.

Very disappointing. Restaurant was not very busy with lots of open tables but guests were grouped side by side near the bar causing it to feel crowded so not the best for our anniversary dinner. Waited forever for our main course. Apparently our side dishes were sent to the wrong table so steak and pasta dish was left to get cold in the kitchen while new sides prepared. Even after being brought to the table the sides didn’t arrive so food sat even longer. Pasta seemed undercooked or had gone hard and cold from sitting so long. Not what you expect from a restaurant billed as fine dining.

We were celebrating our anniversary and went to Mills Tavern, where we had a wonderful dinner- The food was delicious, our waitress Lyn decorated the table and left a nice card for us, service was excellent. We can't wait to go back

From the moment we arrived at Mills Tavern, we were impressed. The cozy, elegant atmosphere set the perfect tone for a memorable evening. The food was exceptional. The wine selection was on point, and our server provided outstanding recommendations. Ribeye was delicious and probably best Brussel sprouts I ever had, meal took over 45 minutes from when we ordered, perhaps they were prioritizing customers going to a show as they asked if we were attending it.
