Monte's Trattoria is an Italian Restaurant located in the heart of Greenwich Village on MacDougal Street between West 3rd and Bleecker. This vintage Italian restaurant has existed since 1918 and the Mosconi family has continued its rich tradition. Chef Pietro Mosconi delivers authentic Northern Italian dishes from his region of Emilia-Romagna and is often seen in the dining room conversing with patrons.
You'll find a friendly cozy atmosphere. The waiters and bartenders, whom you'll know by name, are always affable and ready to please. Dine as a couple for a romantic dinner, a small private party or as a large group while you take in the sites, sounds and tastes of Greenwich Village. A cozy, charming spot with plenty of history, serving traditional, straightforward Italian American food. The place was bustling and a little cramped but the waitstaff did a great job of managing our larger (9 ppl) table without any problems.

Avoid this restaurant, a trap. Awful seating by the bathroom. Food is not good. Surprised they are successful as they are and busy.

Had an 8pm reservation last Saturday. We got there at 7:50pm, they said people just got served and it should be short wait. We stood there for about thirty minutes, as they didn’t have a way to let you know our table was ready other than waiting and risking them giving our table to someone else. After thirty minutes we sat at the bar. The bartender didn’t address us reading the menu until we asked about 15 minutes later if we can order. At 9:10pm we were seated. It was a crowded night, and tight seating. It took 45 minutes to get our food. At that point, it was 9:55pm, and we had to leave to go to a live show starting at at 10:30pm. We tell the waiter our situation, asking for the food that was just set down to be wrapped up and for the check. The waiter tells us “you should have told me and I would have expedited your order”. We were so confused, so no one gave us the time of day to ask for anything, let alone we expect the food to not have to be expedited??? Such an upsetting experience. The waiter shook my boyfriend’s hand and apologized for ruining our night. I’m so so sad that was our first experience. I was really looking forward to Monte’s because of their gluten free options as a celiac. After our show, it was around midnight, and we finally got to eat our pasta we took home. It was delicious
