I’m modifying my 22nd December review of the disastrous, disgusting dining experience at the Mount Vernon Inn after seeing reviews which must be coming from the restaurant. It is impossible that anyone can find the food or the ambiance even remotely appealing, hence I am flagging this to other OpenTable diners. Original review: I’ve never had a more disappointing experience dining at an OpenTable restaurant. Given the historical setting, it’s unfortunate that the restaurant serves poorly prepared food with a total lack of ambience.

We hadn’t been in years so decided to go back. It’s a surprisingly good restaurant. Service was great and food was all good. Our only complaint is the noise level and the ambience. Tablecloths would be a nice feature and so would lowering the lights and lighting candles at the tables. And they need to do something to manage the noise levels. We were in the main room and it’s too loud.

Lovely place, warm and pretty with red Colonial-style wallpaper and paint. Everything looks clean and fresh. Colonial-style food but with modern options. :)

Holiday lunch for four. Decent food. Dreadful setting. Servers looked pained, worn out. Perfunctory at best. Really disappointed in overall experience. Definitely will not return.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating Out waitress was friendly and helpful We all ordered the crabby cakes with homemade potato chips Where amazing It’s our third tine there and never it disappoints

When family and friends from out of State come to visit, this is my go to restaurant outside the beltway. Access is easy, great venue at a historic site, wait staff and food is always the best. Ambience; well, you’re dining on many of Martha’s original recipes. Try the peanut soup, it’s delicious!
