Way back in 1975, the Sail Loft lit the fire for Steve Silverstein, who went on to open nearly 40 restaurants. Located in the quintessential seaside village of Padanaram, it was the neighborhood place where you could get a good (strong) drink, chef prepared comfort food and relax in a convivial atmosphere with familiar faces. The Sail Loft was everyone’s favorite place; it was a hangout where some came for food and others for drink.When the Sail Loft became available in 2021, Steve jumped on the opportunity to take the wheel. Steve and his wife Judy transformed the Sail Loft into an elevated neighborhood restaurant with a distinct updated boatyard feel. The spot is nautical with a chef-driven yet approachable menu, a deep selection of spirts and an intriguing wine list. As with all of Silverstein’s places, while the food, drink and design are always top-notch, it is the warm hospitality that keeps ‘em coming back.

Candela Cucina is not just another Italian American restaurant, Candela is an authentic Italian restaurant. Candela’s menu ranges from classic Italian dishes to innovative contemporary creations, all crafted with the finest ingredients. This new concept from Servedwell Hospitality is in partnership with Peter Biondi. Pete has opened other Servedwell concepts and has worked at several NYC Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu is crafted and overseen by Chef Josh Riazi. Josh has been overseeing all Servedwell’s culinary development and operations since 2018. Josh has worked in several highly acclaimed restaurants; most notably, Josh was Executive Chef at Al Forno in Providence, RI. Josh is assisted by Chef Joe Melo, a Servedwell alum, who will oversee daily culinary operations at Candela.

    The Black Whale menu is diverse and reasonably priced, serving ample portions of wonderfully prepared food ! Our waitress, Catriona, was friendly , professional, and patient. We enjoyed the complimentary fish dip and crackers, then finally decided on the special baked stuffed shrimp dinner and the Caesar salad with tenderloin. Both excellent options, together with a bottle of Erath Pinot Noir, totaled $125.00 with tax. We left with a “doggie bag” and a desire to return with friends to try some of the other tempting options. We highly recommend The Black Whale!

    I had the Kale and Quinoa salad. All I can say is DELICIOUS!!!!!! The citrus vinaigrette was spectacular. This is going to be my new go to. Please keep it on the menu. 😊

    A+ tapas dinner after a visit to the Whaling Museum. We loved the gnocchi, hummus, risotto, cranberry scallops, calamari, all were very tasty. And the ambience was awesome - a very old tavern with stone walls, on the water, felt warm and cozy on a snowy winter night.
