Stark is located in East Mersea, Essex and is owned and run by Ben and Sophie Crittenden, who opened their first site in Broadstairs back in December 2016 with the aim of securing a better work/life balance and enabling Ben to enjoy more time with their three young children, Ivy, Rosa and Arlo. Before relocating to Mersea Island, Stark was the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Thanet and one of five in the whole of Kent.At Stark, only one, set tasting menu is served with no options or alternatives available. Because of this, Stark is unable to cater for any allergies or dietary requirements, for any reason as all guests eat the exact same meal each night. Ben creates a menu from high quality, seasonal ingredients, using his creativity and passion to create delicious food and provide a unique and exciting eating experience for customers.Stark is a very intimate, relaxed restaurant, whose only demand of you is that you sit back, trust us with your dinner and enjoy the experience.

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

We’ve long loved Canary Wharf and it's rich history of the nearby Docklands and Billingsgate Market, yet Blacklock in a glass tower never quite fit. One look at an old disused warehouse nestled cosily in the corner of Canary Wharf underneath the train tracks of the North Dock and we knew we had found home. Feel the comforting rumble of trains passing overhead conjuring memories of some of our favourite haunts underneath the bridges in NYC - a place where, with the blinds rolled down and away from prying eyes, a decadent lunch can swiftly roll into dinner.

Came last night for a meal - hadn’t been to the siege house in years. Starter was really good, I then had steak for main but it wasn’t the best unfortunately - plus presentation of the steak could have been better. The place does have a nice atmosphere and our waitress was really helpful and friendly.

Absolutely Delicious Steak, cooked to perfection. Great for a date night, friend date or dinner with family. I took my family here to celebrate my partners birthday, my son now loves steak and my partner has a new favourit3 restaurant. An absolute gem!

We went for the Valentines Day lunch which was wonderful, as always. I ordered the Valentines chocolate box on line when booking. I was hoping the chocolates would arrive at our table as a surprise for my wife. When I mentioned chocolates at the end of our meal our waitress had no idea what I was talking about and brought a senior colleague who also had no clue. Eventually he found the item and shew it to me on his phone and said I needed to order it as an extra, which I had done. So no surprise, eventually they said there will be no charge for the chocolates - which was kind, but the moment had passed. Staff training on 'specials' would be the way forward.

This is one of our family favourite places. Today was my 60th birthday celebration, and as usual the food was excellent. We have been going to Banquet for years and a change of ownership but consistently yummy food. Highly recommend
