Our wine list, supplied by Solent Cellar in Lymington, features an excellent range of both Old World and New World Wines with classic favourites as well as interesting surprises. The bar serves favourite local ales, premium lager and an excellent selection of imported beers, spirits and features a list of classic cocktails all made from scratch. We also offer full Afternoon Tea with homemade scones and a creative assortment of treats and sandwiches, all of which can be enjoyed in our drawing room or on warmer days overlooking the garden.Our Dining Room is the perfect place for groups and large tables also.     Martin was most welcoming and for that alone we will be back. It was a busy service. Starters were excellent, my friend enjoyed her fishcake with a perfectly poached egg. My shepherd’s pie was good. The creamed spinach was very good. A well chilled bottle of Chenin Blanc complemented the meal. Thank you. Overall a wonderful dining experience which we highly recommend!!

    Lovely place, definitely be back soon. Food was delicious and a good choice of proper food and nice kids menu too. Lovely outside space so will be back in the summer if not before

    This was the second year having Christmas lunch at The Ship in Distress. The food was excellent, tasty , nicely presented and hot. Service by staff was very friendly and no shortage of smiles. Excellent Christmas Day lunch and will be booking for 2025.

    Great meal in lovely location. Restaurant elegant with a relaxed atmosphere. Menu not large but had a good varied choice. Food well cooked and beautifully presented. Reasonably priced. Only criticism would be the lack of vegetables with the meal - they were more of a garnish. Would have liked a side dish of veg especially as the meat portions were quite large. Would definitely recommend.

    A stunning first visit to The Oaks! The Cheese Soufflé is phenomenal. We dined on a Wednesday night so took advantage of the 2 steaks offer - absolutely perfect steak with great accompaniments and wine included. Winner. Lovely staff, super friendly and a gorgeous venue too. We will be back next time we visit the South Coast for sure!
