The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes.     We did the Nutcracker afternoon tea it was wonderful! Food was lovely the decorations and the way it’s all presented is fab! Highly recommend it well worth a visit!

    I have visited this venue many times and have always had great experiences. This time I met with friends for our Christmas gathering and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious with a nice selection of sandwiches and cakes. The atmosphere and service very good. My only complaint would be that we didn’t have as much time together as we would have liked due to them closing. My booking was made for 2.30pm and they closed at 4.30. If I were to return I would make an earlier booking to have more time.

    Lovely lunch at a pub I used to visit as a child. It was great to be back. A real countryside treat in such a fabulous old building. The staff were very friendly and chatty, it felt very welcoming. The website describes food as traditional pub food however I think that’s an understatement as it’s verging on fine dining. Will be back to sample more of the menu.

    Great afternoon late lunch me and my husband. 5 plates of tapas, few glasses wine, perfect afternoon. Pear & goats cheese toasts, chicken skewers with red pepper sauce, broccoli, prawn skewers & of course potatoe bravas. All delicious 😋
