Located in a beautifully restored 19th century building, the Old City House offers it’s guests the chance to experience a personal selection of world cuisine in a Mediterranean atmosphere. Only the finest ingredients are used and all entrees are prepared to order featuring fresh seafood, pasta, beef, lamb, and pork.                                                                                                                                         The main complaint: It was my wife's birthday and at the end of the meal the server said to her, Would you like a birthday desert? She said ok, assuming it was complimentary like many other restaurants do. When I got the bill there was a charge of 12.50 for the desert. When I inquired I got this confusing explanation. SO, mistake number one was that I should have asked if there was a charge, even though the invitation sounded complimentary. Even so, the server should have been transparent and said there would be a charge; otherwise, it would appear that the omission was for a reason. A real let down to the meal. Always ask the price at a restaurant, even for a beer where the charge is rarely on the menu.

                                                                                                                                        We took an impromptu ride to St Augustine and chose Old City from its location and reviews. IWe dined outdoors on a very cozy and aesthetically pretty patio. Each course of food was all uniquely prepared and very tasty, from the escargot starter to in house made desserts. We truly enjoyed our meal. It was a great experience!

                                                                                                                                        Once again, OCH stood out as one of our finest eating establishments, even in the "sea" of very good St. Augustine restaurants. It was a very enjoyable 82nd birthday celebration for yours truly, all aspects of which were about as perfect as humanly possible. Kudos to Juan for what he has brought to the area over the years since he first arrived: from the initial version of the modest La Cocina, originally located next to The Joyful Cork - Joyce Pease's terrific little wine shop - to the various other eateries he, his family and team have launched, revived etc. You've made a positive difference in our town, all while setting a high standard for yourself in a business that's a challenge in the best of times. Well done, sir.
