The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.

The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.

The restaurant has been family-owned and operated since 1974 and in 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.

            The service is better than some of the finer restaurants in Vancouver. They don’t bother you but are there to serve as you are thinking of something. Like more water. They are very familiar with all items on the menu. The food is beyond good. I love the lamb.my husband had the filet, he said it was so tender. I give it a 10 plus.

            2 of us had the anniversary special. It was sumptuous! The nitro ice cream was a thrilling and delicious ending to a really great meal. A friend had the halibut and he loved it. I tried a bite and noticed it was done to perfection. The other friend had the seafood platter and she was very happy with it. What a special place the Old Surrey Inn is! Over the 40 year span of dining at this jewel, the draw is always the Caesar salad made by your table. The best I’ve had! Great service and ambience. Keep up the impressive job and thank you for all the wonderful and memorable meals.

            It was a set menu for New Years Eve but plenty to choose from. Quality was very good and decent sized servings. Service was attentive without being intrusive. All in all we had a good evening.

            The food was amazing as always. We came with another couple. The mini tourtiers were so good! I had the steak and lobster and my partner had the rack of lamb for the mains. Both were done to perfection. The service was slower than usual.
