CR1 was formed by a desire to give Croydon and surrounding areas a taste of a different experience, similar to what is attainable in cities like New York, London, Lagos, Tokyo, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul etc.We offer great food options. Our Savannah seabass, chef' special salad and chunky beef with jollof rice are great lunch options. You might prefer the succulent Rib-eye steak burger or the Greek lamb chops. Want something different? On Sundays the chef makes the most amazing pasta.Our drinks menu is luxurious, concise and practical. Our cocktails are some of the best in Croydon. We are an over 21 venue from 9pm on weekends. Which means that from 10pm to close on Friday and Saturday anyone under the age of 21 will not be served food or drink within our premises. At every other time kids and families are welcome. Please note a physical ID is always required when visiting the restaurant or bar on weekend nights and ID may be requested at any time.

Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. The Light House menu changes every day to make best use of the freshest seasonal ingredients and each dish is an adventure. Try perroche bruschetta with piquillo peppers, caperberries, babaganoush and Greek olives to start, perhaps followed by pan-fried sea bass on wild garlic leaves, courgettes, ratte potatoes and romesco sauce. Black pepper cheesecake with gooseberry compote is a winner, too. We went for lunch for our wedding anniversary, as it is our favourite restaurant, and decided to have the tasting menu. The meal began with a complimentary, delicious butternut soup. Every course was beautiful - beautifully cooked and presented and the amount of food was very well judged. The wine pairings were very well matched and, when I said I didn't like chardonnay, another wine was willingly chosen. Service was friendly, but professional and we weren't rushed at all.

Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.
