The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport. The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. We are a Dog Friendly restaurant. Given the provenance, the kitchen predominantly cooks British food, occasionally dipping into other cuisines to provide a vehicle for flavours – nettle gnocchi for example, or poached oyster with wild boar chorizo.WE wanted a unique fun and informal restaurant, to offer their Crowborough Estate’s produce from. Food was good quality. Bar staff helpful. One of the table staff was very efficient but the other lacked experience and got part of our order wrong, which was only partially rectified. Quite expensive overall. Menu wasn't as extensive as shown online.

The steak was excellent, very tender. Disappointing that that fishmonger hadn't turned up so there was very little fish on the menu. Plenty of gluten free options too.

We had a very nice meal and good service, however we all felt very cold and asked for a nearby electric radiator to be turned on, which was done immediately without any fuss.

Food and service is excellent. Very friendly and the Hanger Steak is a superb dish. Incredibly tasty. Cheeseboard - solid choices of cheese. The Afogato with homemade donuts was a great twist. Definitely recommend.
