Blackfriars is located in a 13th century medieval friary where it once served as the refectory for the Dominican friars, making it one of the oldest purpose-built dining rooms in the UK.The restaurant serves a classic, gutsy British menu sourcing seasonal produce from local farms and markets accompanied by a large award-winning wine list. Absolutely fantastic place for dinner! The surroundings are beautiful and the food was incredible. Particularly loved the scallop starter and the beef wellington was one of the best we’ve ever had. All the staff were friendly and happy to give advice. Such a pity we live so far away!

First people in HR Newcastle to have the Festive afternoon tea, well worth the money great choices on the table. We struggled to eat everything and brought half of home with us the selection was very filling and totally worth the visit and cost, even brought the wine home unopened. Highly recommend the food and restaurant the staff were very attentive and great service throughout the time we were there
