In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistroafter being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisineduring his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.49 years later and now being operated by Michael's son Abe,IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliersand produce, fresh ingredients and the best available dryaged British beef. We enjoyed our night at il bistro, the overall experience delivered as we expected it to. It had a nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive service and a reasonably wide menu. Food was good. Would return.

Fabulous food, wonderfully prepared with exceptional service. They do however charge an extra £20pp for the ‘main course’ which I found slightly odd on a tasting menu. Maybe this should be more explicit on the website. Nonetheless we had a fantastic time!

A real find. Great for pre theatre with a choice of delicious small plates. Excellent service - very attentive. Will definitely return.
