The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys. Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen. Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

When booking a table in the evening, please be aware that we are a residential home and as such we ask that guests depart the restaurant by 09:00pm and have consideration for our neighbor's when leaving.Please be aware when visiting that there is a security gate on entry, the code for which is written on the gate, you will need to exit your vehicle to input the code. Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. Great food as usual. We have not had a bad meal here, whether it’s been Sunday lunch, taster menu or steak night. My only issue is service can be slow. They were very accommodating to fit a large group in and helped make a night special.

Tasty Sunday roast - one had beef and the other the veggie option with all of the same trimmings. Third guest had duck breast. Would have preferred it slightly pinker but wasn't asked how they would like it cooked. Large chocolate brownie for dessert.

Lovely pub/restaurant in tiny village. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food was pricey but extremely well presented.
