A lovely restaurant with great service and a promotion on the pies we had for lunch. My mum would have appreciated the heating being on and both of us could have done with more light.

From the moment you walk through the door you receive a very warm welcome, the hosts are just friendly and welcoming. This was out third visit and the food was just amazing. It is not a cheap place to eat but the sheer quality of the food and hospitality makes it so worth the money.

Great selection of tapas dishes. We selected 9 for our party of 3. Each selection was delicious. We accompanied our tapas with the prosecco based version of sangria which was equally as enjoyable as the food. Excellent service from helpful and friendly staff. Already booked our return

This was my first visit to Bench .Thoroughly enjoyable evening from the moment we entered the restaurant until leaving. Just the right amount of interaction from the staff and super flavours and presentation from the kitchen .

Booked a table as location was convenient to catch up with friends for food and drinks. I had not eaten here for several years and had seen mixed reviews. Whilst the pub itself was maybe more busy than usual on the run up to Christmas service did not take long at the bar. My friends ordered pie and chips, fish and chips whilst I had ordered Mediterranean linguine with additional chicken. When the order arrived , there was no chicken with my pasta and the pie and chips looked extremely underwhelming - size of portion mainly. As it happened we hadn’t been charged for the chicken and as it would have taken 10 minutes to arrive, decided it really wasn’t that essential. The linguine was ok, plenty of vegetables and whilst the fish and chips looked uninspiring were quite nice. I will certainly go to the Abbey again for drinks but can’t say any of us would be ordering food in the future.
