Zaab Zaab is proud natives of Queens, opened their restaurant in the heart of Elmhurst’s Little Thailand in April of 2022 just before Songrkan, or Thai New Year. The destination for authentic Isaan cuisine from Northeastern Thailand has received numerous accolades, including a 3-star review from Pete Wells of The New York Times, and being listed two years in a row on the NYT’s 100 Best Restaurants in NYC as well as being nominated as a semifinalist in the outstanding Restaurateur category for the 2024 James Beard Foundation Awards. Zaab Zaab is also recognized as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant.  “My original thinking when we opened the restaurant was to serve the local Thai community in Elmhurst,” says Chunton. “Clearly I underestimated New York City’s appetite for Northeastern Thai food. This was our 18th wedding anniversary & chose to celebrate it somewhere new. The ambiance was amazing. Our server was very attentive & the service was amazing. Everything came out right on time which was greatly appreciated. We had chicken & vegetable spring rolls which were amazing. My husband ordered sweet & sour chicken which he loved & I ordered beef & broccoli which was good but I felt the beef was a lil chewy. My drink Mai Tai wasn’t that good but the mistaken drink Brooklyn was amazing. We will be back again in the future to try some other food.

We were sat a few tables from the door and felt a cold draft every time someone walked in. The door would stay open and let a lot of chill in. There’s no entry awning so it felt very cold the whole dinner, and they wouldn’t reseat us.
