A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal. Strange Delight finds its influence in New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and Blackened Swordfish Belly.To drink, Strange Delight updates old classics, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers. The inside of the restaurant is as cozy and comfortable as one would expect, as it is a relaxed atmosphere similar to a sports bar in the off-season. One of the keys to Upstate's success is its commitment to freshness. So much so that there isn't even a freezer in the building as everything is brought in fresh daily.Obviously, the oysters and clams are what most patrons come for, and Upstate's selection of west and east coast varieties changes every day, depending on what is available. That's certainly not the only thing on the menu, though. Guests can try out shared plates of house cured salmon, crab cakes, squid salad and even sea urchin.

Best dining experience I've had in years. Now one of my top 3 restaurants to recommend to out of towners. Not a bad dish, and closing out with complimentary bread pudding was delightful.

Celebrated our 65 wedding anniversary. Have eaten here before. Staff was so kind. Treated us to a glass of champagne. Helped us choose what to order. Shared razor clams, clam chowder, clams and shrimp. All very good. A surprise cheesecake ended our lunch. Would highly recommend.

Service was incredible and every dish was on point. We couldn’t stop raving about the butternut squash ravioli. Took a gamble on this restaurant for my friend’s birthday and will definitely be coming back.
