Just a few steps from Falls Park, Pomegranate on Main serves authentic Persian cuisine with exceptionally flavorful beef, chicken, lamb, shrimp, salmon and veggie kabobs and basmati rice entrees, stews and starters. The entrees are gluten-free and naturally healthy. Owner and entrepreneur Ali Saifi learned Southern hospitality in his native Iran long before settling in Greenville, S.C., and opened the restaurant as a gift to the community that celebrates the Upstate’s melting pot of cultures. Enjoy a bistro-style atmosphere in our main dining room or open-air patio with water wall.

                                                                                              It’s been awhile since we last ate there, so we were looking forward to it. The ambiance was casually upscale but quite noisy. We had forgotten that. The food was ok, but just that. Our hummus appetizer was very good and my wife’s vegetarian kebabs were good, but certainly not outstanding. My shiskabobs were very disappointing. While the veggies were good, but rather bland with apparently no seasoning, as expected, the chunks of beef were at the right temperature and not overly done, but they were exceptionally tough and hard to chew. It literally took minutes of chewing to get each bite down. So I tried to cut them into smaller, more manageable, pieces, which helped, but cutting them wasn’t so easy. All in all, the experience reminded us that there are plenty of other Mediterranean style restaurants in Greenville that are a LOT better, albeit not as upscale looking. If what you’re after is delicious Mediterranean, healthy food, and don’t care about ambience, then look elsewhere.

                                                                                              Disappointed in the food. They forgot our appetizer. Basmati rice was dry and tasted old. was expecting choice cuts of beef vs a pounded strip.

                                                                                              We celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday here while visiting Greenville. The staff were very friendly & our server was so knowledgeable. The food was delicious & amazing. We took suggestions from our server and both loved our meals. The food is fresh, delicious & not something we get to eat often. We will be back the next time we’re in Greenville. The dining room was charming & the whole restaurant had great ambience. Highly recommend!!

                                                                                              Had a strange experience here. We’ve been before and the food is really good. I have had a big issue with eating dairy so I stopped eating it per my dr. I asked the waiter what I could order dairy free- he was taken aback and said “um like everything has dairy in it!!” It was very uncomfortable. He then said I had two options. Plain salmon with plain rice or plain steak with plain rice. He said everything - even their marinades - has dairy. I feel like in 2024 dietary restrictions are common and dairy has always been a common intolerance. I would think any restaurant would have better accommodations especially a Mediterranean one given they usually olive oil is commonly used in this cuisine. The waiter was pretty dismissive after that. Didn’t check on us or anything. It was like he wrote us off knowing we couldn’t order much- though my husband didn’t have any restrictions. It was just uncomfortable and awkward. My plain steak and rice was ok but obviously very bland and not worth what we paid. I think the team should have better training to handle allergies and intolerances and they should have more options on their menu for these scenarios.
