We know the word "fusion" has been wielded about to justify everything from Hula Burgers to Mexican lasagna. But the East-meets-South brand of fusion happening at Poor Calvin's? It's creative; it's innovative; and it's probably unlike anything you've tasted in the ATL. After working in kitchens around the world, Calvin Phan wanted to shake things up a little. And so, into the mac 'n cheese, the Thai spices went. Now, Calvin's giving Southern staples, like sea bass and fried chicken, a decidedly creative Asian-inspired twist (and a nip of spice, too). He has created innovative dishes, approached in much the same way, leave the hands of Calvin Phan day in and day out. His dedication and attention to detail are evident in each dish and dessert. You won't be disappointed.

                                                                          My second visit and it was just as special as the first!, The food was immaculate as usual! My server was heaven sent. The owner and chef checked in on me and my guest. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming! I recommend Poor Calvin's to everyone!

                                                                          Date Night Done Right! 💫🍽️ Hubby and I had a fantastic evening, but let’s be real—the real MVP was the food. We kicked things off with the Lobster Crawfish Wontons, and oh boy, they did not disappoint. For the main event, we went all in with the Sea Bass special and the Grilled Australian Lamb Chops with Goat Cheese—both absolute flavor bombs. The sea bass was drenched in a sauce so good it deserved its own round of applause, and the lamb chops? Grilled to perfection, paired with fresh, giant asparagus that didn’t just sit on the plate—it delivered. Our cocktails? Smooth, balanced, and right on theme with the night. And then, dessert. Toasted pound cake. yummy, dreamy, and just the right amount of indulgence. Perfect for two (or, you know, one if you’re feeling extra). Portions? Generous. So generous, in fact, we had to tap out before the finish line—hello, next-day leftovers!                                                                           The minute we arrived everyone was welcoming and they made us feel special. Our waiter, Jojo, was very knowledgeable about the specials and the menu overall. He made very delicious recommendations. As a result we ended up ordering three entrees for a table of 2. The lobster fried rice was rich with flavor. The seafood curry was on another level with a rich coconut taste layered with a rich creamy broth, the pan seared sea bass was flaky and juicy at the same time. The lobster Mac and cheese had a mixture of flavors that elevated the dish. The fried cheesecake was an explosion of flavor with every bite and the tiki rum punch was nice and strong and took me back to my home island of St. Lucia! Overall this birthday celebration was heightened by the great food and service at Poor Calvin’s.
