Throughout the space of Public, a modernist sensibility is blended with a classic American, Newport mansion drawing room theme. It's design is inspired by the existing architecture of the Masonic Temple and it's Rhode Island Capital Statehouse neighbor. Public's masculine and warm setting will be a meeting place for hipsters and Senators alike.
Please keep in mind that we are next to a theatre and it greatly affects reservations and seating times.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience! The food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Every staff member was incredibly friendly, contributing to a truly memorable dining experience. Our waiter was particularly impressive, offering insightful recommendations and a deep knowledge of the menu that made our choices even easier. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal, and I will definitely be returning!

We ate dinner here on Valentine’s Day. Needed somewhere to go while we waited to pick up our kids from their respective dinners and it had availability. It is definitely a place people go before a show. It was packed when we got there at 6 and emptied out at about 6:30. Our service was good but I wish I could say the same about the food. Our crab cake was lukewarm warm at best. Basically cold. My salmon was supposed to be medium. It was charred on the top and well done in the middle. The flavor was so fishy I couldn’t finish it. It was supposed to be over a warm salad of potatoes and cauliflower with a Dijon dressing. The salad was not warm, but cold and it came with pickles, banana peppers, and carrots mixed into it?!?! The Dijon mustard was so overpowering - I also couldn’t finish that. I will say that my husband got the Chicken Marsala and enjoyed it. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

I have dined many times at the Public Kitchen and Bar. August is the server I request and always provides excellent service and is friendly and attentive. Christopher the manager is friendly and cordial .

Great place to eat before our show at the VET. Ambience warm and upscale. Food was very good and our server was wonderful. We have one major complaint. The host, Chris, was rude, unfriendly and seemed to hate his job. So much for hospitality at a place that needs it. Probably won't return due to unpleasant hosting.

Overall lovely dining experience - part of the hotel but food was delicious and location convinient for seeing a show next door at The Vets. Only negative was a flashing lightbulb right by our table that staff acknowledged but did not offer a solution.
